Starting an Internship

I have started my internship now; I am interning with the webmaster at the public library here. One of the main reasons I chose the library was because I would get paid for it, but I’m really glad I did. As things are going, it’s going to work out very well.

I have actually worked at the library for two years now, through the school, for the previous webmaster. I just did odd jobs and mostly killed time, as she had little for me to do. Also, in most cases I knew more about web design than she did, and she was okay with that. However, the library just had a shifting of personnel and they had to hire a new webmaster. The new guy has had experience and knows much more than I do, so at the last minute I was able to do my internship there.

This new guy is heavier on the coding side of web design, whereas I focus more on the layout and graphics. However, he knows a whole lot more about design than most code-minded people I know, and I’m looking forward to what I can learn by working with him.

The main thing we are doing is redesigning the library’s main web site, as the current one is a bit . . . well, here it is.  I guess you could say rather than redesigning it, we’re designing it.  Anyway, I’ll post updates here and let you know when it’s done (we’re aiming for end of April; it has to be approved by a board first *shudder*).
